Our R&D organization seeks to combine the advantages of size and speed. In the early stages of the research enterprise, "Lavanya" possesses the size required to hunt for common-man-need-drugs, targets by exploring the human genome and then to screen upwards of a million compounds against these targets in search of drug candidates. In the later or future stages as well, the Lavanya takes advantage of its size to conduct large, late-stage clinical trials around the world. Working closely with the clinical groups, situated within the organizational fabric of R&D, regulatory-affairs and marketing staff, which ensures that development efforts directly address to the requirements of regulatory bodies and the needs of medical professionals and their patients. Researchers restlessly pursue their quest to identify plants, minerals or animal derivatives with medicinal properties. Often they are successful in, proverbially turning over a new leaf. For this discovery the journey of constitutes begins and ultimately in it's becoming one of the ingredients in final formulations. Products undergo many phases during their evolution from single ingedients to final formulations and the R&D team at Lavanya Ayurveda ensures that each phase is meticulously carried out. Lavanya blends Ayurvedic expertise with modern medical technology to scientifically prove the safety and efficacy of such herbs and the ultimate formulations. Advantages of the Rasa Shastra In the modern Ayurvedic practice the rasa shastra has been considered more useful and effective when compared to the herbal preparations. It is said that the rasa shastra has immense therapeutic applications some of which are prevention of ageing and reduction in age-related disorders. Some other features that make rasa shastra or rasa preparations more advantageous than the other preparations are:
Mercury is the basis of rasa shastra and is its most important ingredient. Mercury possesses all the six tastes and provides optimal nutrition to the body tissues. Another important feature of mercury is that it can assimilate easily with almost all the substances. On assimilation with other substance besides its own properties. This quality of mercury makes it an abundant source of energy. Therefore, the mercury is an ideal catalyst in the therapeutic process. This quality is termed as Yogavahi in Ayurveda. The name of mercury in Sanskrit is parad. Mercury has tremendous medicinal properties some of them are:
Mercury has to undergo various procedures called as sanskara before it is ready for internal consumption. Sanskara is a Sanskrit word which means impression. In the current context the word sanskara refers to adding new impressions or enrichment in the qualities of mercury. Once the mercury is purified, it is passed through a number of processes to inculcate the desired qualities in it. These special processes are called as the sanskaras of mercury. The purpose of the sanskaras is to offer hundred percent safe and mose effective mercury for human consumption. The traditional rasa shastra carries description about eighteen different sanskaras for the enrichment and processing of mercury. In addition to mercury, rasa shastra also involves the use of various metals and minerals for formulation of potent compounds that are very effective in the treatment of some of the most chronic and incurable diseases. The metals are first purified and then burnt many times to convert them into ashes, which are known as “bhasma” in Ayurveda. The bhasma are oxides of the metals and are easily assimilated into the human system either by themselves or by mixing them with some herbal powders. While mercury and metal compounds play a vital role in curing some of most difficult diseases, it is important to understand their purification and processing methods thoroughly.
