How Ayurveda works?
The greatness of Ayurveda lies in its views about health.
The World Health Organization has realized the richness of Ayurveda and has listed it as the best and safest system of medicine.
Why Ayurveda treatment has no side or after effects? Allopathic therapy is based on Symptomatic treatment targeting single element treatment. However in Ayurveda, The combinational therapies are given not only to heal Symptoms but also to balance other deficiencies, side or after effects caused due to lack of that element in body (e.g. vitamin D) .according to Charaka, "life" itself is defined as the ‘combination of body, sense organs, mind and soul, the factors responsible for preventing decay and death, which sustains the body over time, and guides the process of rebirth’ . accordingly, Ayurveda is concerned with measures to protect "ayus" which includes healthy living along with therapeutic measures that relate to physical, mental , social and spiritual harmony. How Ayurveda is able to treat the disease with it's root causes? According to Ayurveda all of life ( people ,food, animals, nature , the universe and diseases) are combinations of three energy elements:air( called vayu or vata) fire ( called pitta) and water (called kapha). When these elements are balanced, one is healthy. The reason for any illness is caused by dis-balancing or excesses of one or more of these 03 elements in body (Called Tri-doshas). A person's constitution depends predominately on one or more of these elements. Each element relates to certain body types, food and health concerns. By nature, whatever is the person's constitution, they have a tendency for it to become accessed. For example: - An air constitution person (vayu dosha) is thin and bony. - Physical symptoms of excess air include fear, anziety and nervousness. - When vayu dosha in that person is balanced, he becomes creative, adaptable and has no physical health problem. Further I. Watery (oily) or viscous element called cough and is responsible for greasing of various pats of body. II. Temperature (Agni) Called Pitta. III. Air (Compression System of body) Called Vata. When vata and pitta or pitta and kapha or kapha and vata doshas are dominant, it is called dwi-doshaj. Similarly when all three become dominant, it is called tri-doshaj or sannipataj. It is of course Vata only, that disturbs other two elements viz. Cough and Pitta causing diseases. As long as balancing of above three elements are maintained, whatever we eat is digested well. The intakes of food after digestion pass through a series of steps giving us ultimately oaj. Digested food - Rasa - Rakta - Maans - Med - Asthi - Majja - Shukra or Raj - Oaj Remaining parts of digested food is converted into Mala, Mutra & Pasina and they exit out of body from their routes. When tridoshas are balanced, digestion is proper and the ultimate wastes like Mala, Mutra Pasina have no intolerable bad smell. When there is no balancing in Tri-doshas, it causes illness (roga). At these points, it is important to know that this roga has affected which element of body. For example- In a yagya if the temperature of burning fire is maintained all the hawan material will burn properly, producing proper energy and ultimately all material is converted to Rakh. Where as if the fire is not maintained & becomes dull then entire hawan material will not convert to proper energy & Rakh but it will also produce coke. This coke is similar to vikrit Mala, which does not exit entirely from the body & produces bad smell, gas etc. This destroys the compression (air circulation) system of the body producing one or more than one rogas. When rogas become intense it searches for a weaker element inside body with intention to rest there. It ultimately starts disturbing that element on which it is resting. There is a six step process for this mechanism inside body. Step 1: Sanchay - Means roga targets a weak place or element & rests there. Step 2: Prakop - Means roga starts infecting that place or element. Step 3: Prasar - Means roga further spreads Step 4: Sansray - Means roga damages that place or element. Step 5: Vyakti - Means that roga affected place is no more a living cell but a diseased individual. Step 6: Bheda - Means roga ultimately reaches to the climax of various kind of damages on that place. The Mala of body is also infected as a by product of above process. By investigating the content of mala, rogas can be identifies to some extent. |
