Cardiomyopathy
Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscles which affects the function of the heart to pump blood efficiently to the entire body. Common symptoms include breathlessness, swelling of the lower extremities, abdominal bloating, fatigue, palpitations and dizziness. Coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, high blood pressure, metabolic disorders and prolonged alcohol and drug abuse are the common causes of this condition.Causes According to Ayurved faulty diet and daily routine results in accumulation of Doshas ( Sadhak pitta, Avlambak kapha)in the cardiac muscles. Due to which the function of heart as a pump to deliver oxygen-rich blood to the body is inadequate to meet the body's needs. The inadequate supply of blood is caused by the weakness of cardiac muscles. In a normal healthy individual Pran vayu helps in maintaining the normal cardiac rhythm, and blood flow. Sadhak pitta maintains the temperature of the blood and body. Avlambak kapha works as lubricant (plasma) around the heart (pericardial fluid) and blood vessels. Treatment The Ayurvedic treatment of cardiomyopathy is aimed at reducing the symptoms and treating the cause of the condition.
